A Full Spectrum in Monochrome

At 15, Gregory Bojorquez was captivated by the process of developing his first 35mm photos, sparking a lifelong obsession with photography. His early work focused on homeless individuals, driven by both fear and fascination with their lives. Growing up on the Eastside of Los Angeles, Gregory found a deep sense of community amidst the blue-collar environment, though his dream of becoming a professional photographer wasn’t always understood by those around him. Undeterred, he immersed himself in photography books by legends like Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Davidson, and Diane Arbus, drawing inspiration from their ability to turn photography into an art and a career.
Gregory honed his craft through lookbook shoots for young designers and concert photography, developing a distinctive style along the way. His camera became an extension of himself, always capturing moments wherever he went. It was at a late-night party in East LA that he realized his calling—a photographic project capturing the authentic lifestyles of East LA’s residents. As a native to the area, Gregory’s intimate understanding of the community offers a front-row seat to the lives he documents through his lens.
